This article explains how to use the Notifications inbox — the central place where your Dashboard surfaces alerts about batch events, scan anomalies, geofence rules, order updates, and system messages. Any user with Dashboard access can view the Notifications inbox.
Opening the Notifications Page
There are two ways to reach the Notifications page:
Click Notifications in the left sidebar under the Admin section.
Click the bell icon in the top-right corner of the Dashboard, then click View all.
🔔 How the Notification Icon Works
The bell icon in the top-right corner of every Dashboard page shows a red counter with the number of unread notifications. Click it to open a preview panel with the most recent items. Click View all at the bottom of the panel to open the full Notifications page.
Notification Types
Type | When You Receive It |
Batch lifecycle | A batch starts, completes, or is archived |
Bulk upload | A bulk upload finishes or fails |
Order status | A tag order changes status (submitted, in production, shipped, delivered) |
Scans abnormally | Scan activity deviates from the expected pattern for a batch |
Geofence alert | A product is scanned inside or outside a rule you set. See Geofencing Monitoring & Alerts. |
Consumer report | A consumer submits a report on an authentication |
System alert | Platform-level messages from ForgeStop (maintenance windows, feature releases) |
API key | An API key is created, rotated, or revoked |
Reading a Notification Row
Each row in the Notifications table shows:
Column | Description |
Type | The notification category (matches the type table above) |
Title | Short label for the event |
Message | More detailed description of what happened |
Severity | Informational, warning, or critical — indicated by color |
Date | When the event occurred |
Status | Read or Unread |
Click a row to see the full message text. Click the status indicator on a row to mark it read or unread.
Filtering the Inbox
Use the filters above the table to narrow results:
Type — Filter by notification category (Batch lifecycle, Geofence alert, and so on).
Severity — Show only informational, warning, or critical items.
Combine filters to find a specific event quickly — for example, Type: Geofence alert + Severity: Critical narrows the inbox to only urgent geofence breaches.
Managing Notification Volume
The inbox is the complete, unfiltered log of events in your brand. If you manage a high-volume account, use these patterns to stay on top of it:
Mark older alerts as read once they have been reviewed, so the unread counter reflects only items that need attention.
Use filters rather than scrolling — a quick Severity: Critical filter surfaces anything that needs immediate action.
Geofence alerts in particular often reflect expected market activity once a product is distributed. Refine the rule thresholds (see Geofencing Monitoring & Alerts) if you are seeing false positives.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
I do not see the Notifications menu in the sidebar | Confirm the Admin section in the sidebar is expanded. If Notifications is still missing, your role may not have access — contact your account admin. |
I am not receiving email notifications | The Dashboard displays notifications in-app by default. Email delivery is configured per user in your profile settings — confirm your email is verified. |
The bell counter shows unread items that I cannot find | Clear any filters above the table. The bell counter reflects the total inbox; filtering hides items but keeps them counted. |
A geofence alert fired but I do not know why | Click the row to see the full message, which includes the batch, the percentage crossed, and the country involved. See Geofencing Monitoring & Alerts for how to adjust or remove the rule. |
I need notifications for an event that isn't listed | Contact [email protected] with the event type you need. ForgeStop regularly adds new notification types. |
