Creating and Managing Products

Create, edit, and manage products in your Dashboard. A product must exist before you can associate tags to it through a batch.

This article explains how to create, edit, and manage products in your Dashboard. A product must exist before you can associate tags to it through a batch.

Prerequisites

  • Admin or Editor role.

Opening the Products Page

  1. In the left sidebar, click Products under the Management section.

  2. The Products page displays a searchable table of every product in the selected brand.

Each row shows:

Column

Description

Image

Product image thumbnail

Name

Product name

SKU

Unique stock keeping unit

Batches

Number of batches created for this product

Status

Active (green) or Inactive

Creating a New Product

  1. On the Products page, click Create new product in the top-right corner.

  2. In the Create Product modal, fill in the required fields:

Field

Details

Name

The name shown on the authentication page.

SKU

A unique identifier. The SKU cannot be changed once the product is saved.

Product type

Used for your internal reporting. Select the category that best matches the product.

  1. Click Continue. The product is created and you are taken to the Product Detail screen.

Note: The SKU is unique per product. If you sell multiple variants (for example, different flavors or sizes), create one product per variant because each needs its own SKU.

The Product Detail Screen

Once a product is created, the Product Detail screen gives you access to:

  • Product image — Upload or replace the image.

  • Core fields — Edit Name, SKU, and Type.

  • Theme Templates — Assign or create an authentication template (see Product Templates: Customizing the Authentication Screens).

  • Batches — View all batches associated with this product.

  • Create Manual Batch — Start a new batch without the BatchMaker application.

Uploading a Product Image

  1. On the Product Detail screen, click Edit in the top-right corner.

  2. Click the image placeholder or drag an image onto it.

  3. Select an image from your computer.

  4. If the image is not square, crop it to a 1:1 aspect ratio using the on-screen cropper.

  5. Click Save in the image dialog.

  6. Click Save again on the Product Detail screen to persist your changes.

Note: Recommended format is PNG or JPG, square (1:1), under 500 KB. The product image appears at the consumer authentication page.

Activating a Template

Every product needs an authentication template. You can either activate an existing brand template or create a new one.

  1. On the Product Detail screen, scroll to the Theme Templates section.

  2. Click an existing template thumbnail to preview it.

  3. Click the three-dot menu on the template and choose Make Active. The template is now assigned to this product.

  4. To create a new template instead, click New template and see Product Templates: Customizing the Authentication Screens.

Important: Activating a shared template means any future edits to that template apply to every product using it. If you need a product to have a unique look, create a dedicated template for it.

Troubleshooting

Issue

Solution

I need to change a SKU on an existing product

SKUs are unique per product. If you entered the wrong SKU, click the product you'd like to change, click edit and type new SKU, or archive the product and create a new one with the correct value. Remember that if a Product and SKU has active tags (Archiving will stop the product from authenticating)

My product image does not appear on authentication

Confirm the image is saved (the thumbnail should display on the Product Detail screen) and that an active template is assigned.

The Create new product button is not visible

You need Admin or Editor role. Contact your account admin.

Two products share a SKU

SKUs must be unique. The Dashboard blocks duplicates at creation time — if you see a duplicate, report it to [email protected].

I cannot create a new product — the button is blocked or an error mentions a limit

Each plan has a SKU limit: 50 (Standard), 100 (Pro), 250 (Plus), 500 (Advanced), unlimited (Custom). Archive unused products or contact your account manager to upgrade.
