If an issue persists after following these steps, contact ForgeStop support.
Reader Not Detected
Symptom: No reader appears under Settings, or BatchMaker shows a reader connection warning.
Steps to resolve:
Check that the USB cable is firmly connected to both the reader and the tablet.
Try unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable.
Open Settings and check the Readers list.
If the reader still does not appear, restart BatchMaker.
If the issue continues, restart the tablet and relaunch BatchMaker.
If none of the above works, the USB cable or reader hardware may be faulty. Contact ForgeStop support with your BatchMaker ID (found in Settings).
Tags Not Scanning / Failed TIDs
Symptom: Products are passing the reader but scans are being missed, or you see a high Failed TID count after a batch.
Steps to resolve:
Use Test Mode to check that the reader is detecting tags correctly.
Verify the reader is within 1.5 inches (3.5 cm) of the label as products pass.
Check for interference from metallic surfaces or nearby equipment.
If using a Label Type setting, confirm it matches your tag type. If unsure, set it to Auto.
Slow down the production line and re-test. If scans improve, the line speed may be too high for the current reader position.
Batch Not Appearing on the Dashboard
Symptom: A batch was completed and confirmed in BatchMaker, but it is not showing on the ForgeStop Dashboard.
Steps to resolve:
Confirm the tablet has an active internet connection. Check the network icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar.
Wait 2β3 minutes and refresh the Dashboard.
Check that the correct environment is selected in BatchMaker (the Dashboard URL must match your environment β production or staging).
If the batch still does not appear, contact ForgeStop support with the Batch ID and Lot Number from your run.
BatchMaker Does Not Open Automatically
Symptom: The tablet has started but BatchMaker has not launched after 5 minutes.
Steps to resolve:
Tap the BatchMaker icon on the desktop to launch it manually.
If the icon is not visible, open the Start Menu and search for BatchMaker.
If BatchMaker fails to open entirely, restart the tablet and try again.
If BatchMaker still does not open after a restart, contact ForgeStop support.
BatchMaker Is Frozen or Unresponsive
Symptom: The BatchMaker screen is visible but not responding to taps or input.
Steps to resolve:
Wait 30 seconds β BatchMaker may be processing a large batch.
If still unresponsive, press and hold the power button to restart the tablet.
Relaunch BatchMaker after the tablet restarts.
Note: If a batch was in progress when the freeze occurred, contact ForgeStop support before starting a new batch to confirm whether the in-progress batch was submitted.
Login or Authentication Error
Symptom: BatchMaker shows a login error or fails to authenticate when starting up.
Steps to resolve:
Confirm the tablet has an active internet connection.
If you are prompted to log in, use the credentials provided by ForgeStop or your company administrator.
If you do not have credentials or have forgotten them, contact ForgeStop support.
