Production Line Integration
Follow these steps to install and connect your BatchMaker Unit and NFC Reader to your production line.
STEP 1: INFOTAP Labels are applied to each product
STEP 2: NFC READER scans the INFOTAP Labels as products pass
STEP 3: BatchMaker logs and associates each INFOTAP Label to your batch
Connecting Your NFC Reader
Locate the USB port on the front of your BatchMaker tablet unit.
Connect the NFC reader using the included USB cable or USB extension cable.
Open BatchMaker and tap Settings.
Under Readers, confirm your reader appears in the list.
If no reader appears, check that the USB cable is firmly connected at both ends and try again. If the issue persists, open a support ticket.
Supported Reader Types
Reader Type | Use Case |
HF (NFC) | Standard NFC tag scanning |
UHF | Dual-frequency use cases |
Contact ForgeStop support if you are unsure which reader type your setup uses.
NFC Reader Positioning
Correct reader placement is critical for consistent, reliable scanning.
IMPORTANT: The NFC READER must be placed within 1.5 inches (3.5 cm) of the INFOTAP Label on each product.
The BatchMaker unit connects to the NFC reader via USB cable.
Products can move freely down the production line — they do not need to stop at the reader.
Avoid mounting the reader directly against metallic surfaces, as this can interfere with NFC signal.
Recommended Positioning Steps
Position the reader above or alongside the conveyor where labels will pass.
Use Test Mode in BatchMaker to verify products are scanning correctly before starting a live batch.
Adjust reader position until all test scans are detected without misses.
UHF Reader Power Settings
If you are using a UHF reader, you can adjust the reader power level in Settings under UHF Scanner Power.
Setting | Effect |
30 (highest) | Largest read area and range |
1–29 | Progressively narrower, more precise read zone |
For most setups, start at the highest level and reduce only if you are experiencing unintended reads from adjacent products.
