Overview
This article covers the minimum and recommended hardware and software requirements for running BatchMaker on a Windows tablet, laptop, or desktop PC. Meeting these requirements ensures stable operation and reliable NFC tag association during production runs.
Software Requirements
Requirement | Specification |
Operating System | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
Internet Connection | Required (Ethernet recommended; Wi-Fi supported) |
BatchMaker App | Latest version — see Getting Started |
Note: Windows 10 is not supported. BatchMaker requires Windows 11 to function correctly.
Hardware Requirements
Two tiers are defined based on production throughput:
Tier 1 — Standard (up to ~300 tags/min)
Suitable for most pharmaceutical production lines using a single HF (NFC) reader at standard conveyor speeds.
Component | Minimum Specification |
Processor | Intel 13th Gen N-series or equivalent |
RAM | 8 GB |
Storage | 256 GB SSD |
Display | 10.1" or larger; touch or mouse/keyboard input |
USB Ports | Minimum 1× USB-A port (for NFC reader connection) |
Network | Ethernet port or Wi-Fi adapter |
Operating System | Windows 11 64-bit |
Power | AC adapter (continuous operation recommended on production line) |
Tier 2 — High Throughput (300+ tags/min, multiple readers)
Required when using commercial-grade readers capable of more than 300 reads per minute, running multiple readers simultaneously, or processing high-density production lines.
For these deployments, a standard desktop PC or business-grade laptop is preferred over a tablet due to CPU headroom, port availability, and thermal performance under sustained load.
Contact ForgeStop or your hardware provider for a recommended setup.
NFC Reader Requirements
BatchMaker connects to NFC (HF) readers via USB.
Specification | Requirement |
Interface | USB (USB-A connection to host device) |
Protocol | ISO 14443-A/B and/or ISO 15693 |
Operating Frequency | 13.56 MHz (HF/NFC) |
Driver Support | Windows 11 compatible drivers required |
Power | USB bus-powered (no external power supply required for desktop readers) |
Recommended Reader: FEIG ID CPR30pro
ForgeStop recommends the FEIG ID CPR30pro as the primary HF NFC reader for BatchMaker deployments. You can read the full Technical Data Sheet here.
Spec | Value |
Interface | USB Full-Speed — bus-powered |
Frequency | 13.56 MHz |
Protocols | ISO 14443-A/B, ISO 15693, ISO 18000-3M3, ISO 18092 (NFC) |
OS Support | Windows 10 and 11 (32/64-bit) |
The CPR30pro is a compact desktop reader powered entirely via USB — no external adapter required. Its integrated antenna eliminates separate antenna cabling, making it well-suited for production line mounting.
For UHF (dual-frequency) deployments, contact ForgeStop support for compatible UHF reader recommendations and configuration guidance.
Notes for IT & Deployment Teams
Ethernet is strongly recommended over Wi-Fi for production environments. BatchMaker uploads batch data to the ForgeStop cloud in real time — a stable wired connection reduces the risk of interrupted uploads.
USB hubs: If your device has limited USB ports, a powered USB hub may be used to connect additional readers. Unpowered hubs are not recommended for sustained reader operation.
Kiosk/locked-down deployments: BatchMaker is designed to run in Windows kiosk mode. See your ForgeStop administrator for kiosk configuration documentation.
Admin access: Initial installation requires Windows administrator credentials. Day-to-day operation runs under a restricted user account.
